Hello everyone,

I have made the foray into Volvo ownership. I have a 2001 Volvo C70 that that I got from a family member for my daughter to take to college. I have working my way through fixing the "known" issues (replaced the heater core) and have changed all fluids (coolant, power steering, brake fluid, oil and filter, and transmission fluid).

Up until the other day, the convertible top was working great. Here is what has happened and where I am today. When I put the top down, the large rear cover hit the small cover on the driver side and cracked it (repaired the ABD plastic already). When that happened, the rear cover did not close all of the way and the car dings now because the cover is up an inch or so. When I put the top up, if goes most of the way, but stops when the rear cover does not go down all of the way again it does not latch.

When i took the latch off, i noticed that is it in the locked potion - see the photos below.

How do I release the latch so the cover can lock into it? Any other pointers are greatly appreciated.
