2001 C70 Need Help
Recently my car was stuck in the snow and was leaking coolant while I was trying to get out. after I got it out it stalled out on me and didn’t start afterward When I got it running again the engine light came on with cylinder 4 misfire. At idle it’s very shaky, but the car seems to run fine, coolant has not leaked since. But I can’t drive even 1km before the engine light starts flashing at me. It was parked all day yesterday because of it and when I went to start it this morning it was turning over but didn’t seem to want to fully start. Also I turned my heat on full blast and it sounded like a train was passing through my driveway. I have no clue what the possible cause for this could be, it was running perfectly before it was stuck in the snow. I feel like it may just be a spark plug issue but that doesn’t explain the heat problem.. any ideas? |
for the misfire, it could be the coil, the plug or a displaced vacuum line. Putting in new plugs is cheap enough, and while you are there, swap two of the coils ie put #3 where #4 is. If the code changes to report a misfire on 3, you know its the coil. meanwhile do a look around to see if your snow incident did something to a vacuum line, particularly the one that goes back to the evap, as a vacuum leak can lean out your fuel trim enough to set off an odd set of codes. As to your heater, sounds like the blower motor is binding up. that would have nothing to do with the snow, but could be related to the cold.

Thank you for the reply, I changed all of the spark plugs, and it seemed that the cylinder with the misfire had the cleanest plug, almost looked new. The code didn’t go away so I’m gonna assume it’s the coil. But a new code has popped up now, P1132. My engine light is still flashing while I drive it, it’s pretty shaky, I’m using more gas than normal, and there’s a big lack of power. I’m not entirely sure what P1132 is, I think I read something about an O2 sensor but I don’t know enough about cars to fully understand what it all means.

OK so the P1132 error tells you what you need to know. That says the car is not detecting a signal from the O2 Sensor (which controls the fuel trim). Considering you got stuck in the snow and that the sensor sits low on the exhaust pipe, I'm better your incident pulled on the wiring harness and effectively disconnected the sensor. Time to get that replaced the car will run poorly without it.
