Default 2001 Volvo C70 "Canisto" rims

I'm new here and was looking for advice on purchasing two replacement Canisto style rims for the C70. I've seen Canisto aftermarket rims and would like to know which is the best place to buy them (besides the dealer).
I'd hate to buy something and then have to pay the shipping to return it clear across the country. Thanks !

Check craigs list. I just sold 4 of those rims today for $200. I'm in the Bay Area too.

I didn't think of buying used, but that's an option.
SF, eh? I'm quite a bit farther north than that. We consider SF to be central, not northern. Funny how that got started. Thanks!

There are companies that refinish rim and sell them. They were approximately $150-200 each if I recall correctly. There is also a salvage yard in the East Bay that specializes in Volvo parts. I'll see if I can find their contact info.

Thanks for your interest. I've seen after-market rims at a site called WheelsRims and they're about $170 oer, but don't know the quality of their product. A refurbished wheel would be OK if it's structurally sound and true, not sure if an alloy wheel can be reshaped once cast.

Default Found new after-market rims at AutoPartsFair on line

http://theserviceadvisor.com/part/vo...y70221u15.html

Has anyone purchased rims from this vendor? They claim a lifetime guarantee. The big concern about buying online is shipping if the product fails. Invariably you pay.

The wheel is reconditioned, not new. That's a concern. I'll do a 'complaints" search and see what pops up.

Default Automotix, LLC

This is the LLC that owns the on line parts store, AutoPartsFair.com, they're located in Kansas. I checked the BBB rating on the company and they've recently been given an F rating. In consideration, they probably do a very high volume of sales and received 27 complaints in the past three years. All but 5 were resolved, they did not respond at all to them.

There is a Volvo/Saab/Mini Cooper dismantler (http://www.vandsautodismantlers.com/) in Rancho Cordova that sells the those wheels used in great condition for a fraction of the cost new. You can have them shipped to your home but i recommend going there to make sure your getting the best, they'll pull the wheels out and show you. Plus it alot cheaper to put $20 in the gas tank & drive rather then $100 shipped in 2-3days.

I've used three sources for info and opportunities:

Ebay
Car-parts.com
collisionwheel.com
then again, I've bought stuff off Craig's List too if you can put up with the disorganization.

As noted, when looking at parts, make sure you note reconditioned vs replica. Shops like Collisionwheel take high quality OEM wheels and fill scars / repaint etc but you still get OEM strength rims.
