2003 c70 2.3L turbo shredded serpentine belt.
 

So I'm driving home from work yesterday about 80 miles per hour on the freeway my car just jerked and immediately died I pulled onto the shoulder pop the hood and my serpentine belt was shredded all pulleys spin freely the tensioner pulley does have a slight wobble. My question is shouldn't have my car have at least stayed running until the battery died out?

you should pull off the timing belt cover to check if the serpentine belt took out the timing belt. With that said, if your voltage dropped from 14V (alternator running), its possible that your voltage dropped below 12.6V when the alternator died confusing the ECU. Its also possible the alternator died earlier in your drive and wore down the battery... I had an alternator go on my VW and I got no warning light - just died... when your belt went, you probably got a christmas tree :-(
