2007 C70 highbeam failure (wiring harness)

I recently lost the high beams on my C70, initially my mechanic thought it was the actual switch (I checked bulbs, fuses myself). However on closer inspection the switch is good and the problem is the CEM itself. Apparently the wiring harness shorted out and fried the relay for the high beams in the CEM.

So I have 2 questions...

1) The best way to handle the wiring harness issue. New/used complete headlight assembly (Xenon). Can you just replace the actual harness or repair it successfully.

2) replacing/reprogramming the CEM? Looking online I found a company that will repair my existing CEM and warranty it for a couple of years for $499.

I'd appreciate any suggestions/advice on the best way to handle this...
