Aftermarket head Unit

I got a 2004 Volvo C70 Convertible and i was wondering if there is any aftermarket stero company (ex. Alpine, Sony, Pioneer) that could take the place and substitude the factory stero system. Also is it even worth switiching to another head unit or just keeping the old one with the 3 cd changer. All the advice and tips are gladly appreciated!!!

The factory unit has "surround" sound that you will not find in an after market unit! Also, the unit supports a trunk mounted 6 disc changer in addition to the 3 disc in the dash.

I am adding a Kicker Subwoofer in the trunk along with a Alpine Amp. Will any aftermarket head unit support both the front 5" Subwoofer in the Dashboard and the Kicker, or can the stock head unit do it?

That I do not know. But still, the 901 with Dolby surround sound has a ton of bass! Perhaps you can look into the Infinity Bass Link to obtain more bass. I installed on in a German auto and am well satisfied with it...............

The stock system doesnt have enough bass for me, sorry. Does anyone know if adding a different head unit is necessary with adding an aftermarket sub and amp. Also should i cut out the front 5" sub and just stick with the sub in the trunk or can i use both of them together?

Why not just tap into the rear speakers with the converter and convert to RCA for the Sub and amp. This way you will keep the stock radio.

That sounds like a really good idea.... but this will eliminate the use of the rear seat speakers if i am correct.... so i will be able to adjust and control the bass from the stock unit Correct? And how easy is this to do any ways... and what will I need besides the amp and woofer and box.. Thanks

You can still use the stock speakers as well if you want to. Tap into the speaker wires them selves with the box. Then the RCA's will connect to that. Then just hook the rest up from there.

Does anyone have any kind of link to show how to DIY... Also I have just called up Crutchfield Audio Company and asked if there was any kit or any brackets they had to install an aftermarket stero unit. They said currently you would have to have a custom job done to it and you could use any aftermarket stero...
