Blown Amp?

I have a 1999. I lost all sound to the side speakers. The fuses in the engine compartment are fine. At least one fuse in the amp itself was blown. When I tried to replace that fuse, it blew immediately (car and radio were off. Does this suggest that my amp is blown? Is there a replacement amp available that would match the existing connections?

what model radio do you have? I'd start by disconnecting the radio and the amp and see if the fuse stays good to rule out a wiring short. To replace the amp, the easy fix is to simply shop eBay or car-parts.com and get a used one for an exact replacement. If you decide to go after market, again eBay, Crutchfields etc sell wiring adaptors (not a fan of cutting and splicing OEM connectors)

Is pulling the power to the amp insufficient to test? Presumably, I need to pull the radio out to disconnect? Would pulling the fuses in the engine compartment work in lieu?

I disconnected the power to the amp and the connection to the radio (the pin connector I assume) and pulled the 30 fuse (placement 9) for the amp in the engine compartment. I replaced the two 20 fuses in the amp itself. When I plugged everything back together and inserted the 30 fuse in the engine compartment, the 30 fuse blew. Presumably, that means my amp is good and that I have a wiring short. I'm assuming this means that I have to check the entire electrical wiring run for the amp or is there a likely location that is the culprit. If it is the entire run, any idea how I do that? Thanks.
