HI, really strange, does everything else fine but won't complete last part of top closing, which is the back panel of top going down to lock into the base of the car. Goes down fine. Year 2000 C70.

I did recently snip the wire that makes the dinging sound as the top was fine, but light would go on the car top button, but can't imagine that would have any impact.. I have a decent mechanic, but we don't know where to start. I did read maybe the microprocessors? Not sure. All suggestions welcome, picture attached.
