Default C70 Headlight wiring disintergrating

Popped out the C70 headlamp assembly for what I thought was the easy little job of installing new Sylvanias and aiming the low beam a bit higher and I got a surprise. The insulation on the wiring leading to the bulbs was cracked, peeling and falling off leaving bare spots. It does not appear to be the result of a fault or short circuit and stock bulbs were in place so not an aftermarket overload. I checked to see if the headlight wiring harness is its own part # as I see evidence or cracking and dropping insulation in many spots on L & R sides. Alas, I believe one has to buy the whole lamp a$$embly. Even though it is an '08, this shouldn't be happening. Ever see this before? Ideas? I'm back in service with some shrink tube and tape for now.

Both my 2003 C70 and 2006 S80 have done the same. The heat in Texas plus these new high-intensity bulbs create too mush heat.

All my volvos are like that. I have not actually tried to fix one. I just ignore it.

Mine are also like that 2004 C70, I disconnected headlights, remove clips from plug "carefully", slide good heat shrink tube over wires reassembled plug clip. Good heat shrink tube did the trick

Default Headlight wiring

Can cover with 3M electrical wiring liquid sealer. I have used it many times, lasts for tears. Just paint it on with cap brush.

Any advise or suggested tools to use to do this method?
