C70 Roof Alarm Problem
 

I have a 2003 C70 with only 25000 miles on it. I have an intermittent problem with the electric roof as follows:-


I can be driving along and the roof alarm will go off for no reason. when this happens the rear heated screen will not work. Some times if I switch the heated rear screen on while I'm stationary then the alarm will not come back on.


The problem has now developed further and if I try and use the roof button in the close position the roof will open half way and stop. If I push it again the roof closes.


If I try and put the roof down in the normal way I have to do the operation several times as the roof will stop at various points.


I have had the micro switches checked and they are all working properly.


If I cannot solve the problem in the short term is there anyway I can turn the alarm off as it is driving me crazy.

My 1999 C70 has a finicky roof alarm, but the roof closes fine. Rather than fight with it (eventually the alarm shuts off), I pulled out the chime relay. The relay on a 99 is a light blue rectancle box that plugs into the relay panel. The panel is up under the dash on on the far left. It sits beneath the fuse panel, but can be easily accessed from under the dash. There are two relays (about 2 inches long) of the same light blue color. I assume the other is for the door chime. Going by memory, the relay was in the top right slot in the box. I pulled mine, with no other ramifications. It sits quietly on my work bench.
