C70 Top won't open

C70 convertible top won't open. The button on the dash that controls the opening and closing of the top flashes and there is that ding, ding, ding like it is warning you that the top is not all the way closed, but it is. (very irritating)
The ding stops when you are not moving, but any movement of the car and the ding starts up
This problem goes away when it is cold outside and now that it is warm it has returned.
Any ideas or help?

Mine is a 2002 C70. There is a fuse in the box under the hood, #25 if I am remembering right, that when I take that out the dinging stops. Unfortunately it also makes it so I can't open the windows either. I read about the 204 relay, but it is much harder to get to.
The bigger problem is that the top won't open. I need to sell this car and who wants a convertible that doesn't convert?

Really, the only way to diagnose it is with a VST (Volvo Scan Tool), which we have at the dealer. The system will need to be calibrated after repair using a VST as well.

Ok, it looks like I go to the dealership. Thanks for the help. Undoing a fuse or turning the radio up just isn't enough of a fix.

My top was doing that too because it wasn't closing all the way. I had to push the canvas down even farther in the trunk space so it could close all the way, and finished closing it.

Gabriellegriswold I have closed my top as far as it will go. I have noticed tho I can see daylight between the top and the boot I can just about get my fingers in there. just waiting for a dry day now so I can open it up and have a fiddle with it and see if i cant get it closed all the way.

Same thing happened with my 07 c70. I pulled fuse 11 under the hood and now there's no beeping.

Hi,

I have the 2002 C70 soft-top and I manually closed the top. But now I get the beeping alarm. How do I reset or disable this?

I have looked under the dashboard (driver side) and cannot see any fuses/relays. The handbook says fuses 41 & 42 are for the top and that they should be under the dashboard.

I called 2 Volvo dealers and they said they might have to replace sensors and costs could be more than getting another second-hand car.

The manual listing is here: https://www.autogenius.info/volvo-c7...e-box-diagram/

All advice appreciated!

Were you ever able to get this problem repaired?

Cheers,

Ritch
