ECC lights flashing

Next little challenge.....

Our otherwise nice C70 01 HPT conv. 74000 miles now

ECC lights flashing for 20 secs after power up. System seems to work fine.

What's the next troubleshooting step?

Do the codes come via the standard OBDII port?

Thanks in anticipation!

Oh and there is a little creaking from the power steering (well away from full lock) at low speed and sometimes some resistance felt about 1/4 wheel turn away from full lock when parking. Thoughts?

Yes the codes come from the OBDII connector.
It could be as simple as the blend door motors need to be calibrated. But the codes will need to be pulled first.

There might be a fault in the steering rack fro the noise or a bad upper spring seat bad.

RE: ECC lights flashing

Thank you again Tech!

The code I get is P1513 and the ECC has stopped working now. (no check engine light of course)

I'm going to chekc the obvious - fuses etc, however there is a compatible control module on eBay tonight with a warranty!

Advice welcome / appreciate

,,,,,,,,,, so I gave it one last try when my wife brought it back just now. With the center control at auto it blew for maybe 2 seconds then did the fail flashing thing. The air con / hot cold valves could be heard working but no fan at any fan control; position. I then powered down and restarted with everything set to manual. It didn't fail so I selected auto on both controls, full hot, full cold etc and after several tries it seems to be OK.

Is it trying to tell me something or just having a bit of fun at my expense?

Does the blower motor still work?
If not the blower motor and resistor might be bad.
