help needed reguarding a 2008 c70 d5 engine

Hi all

New to the world of Volvos and finding info on them is a bit difficult, i'm not green on working on cars and used to strip down mx-5 without a problem.

I have never owned or worked on a diesel engine so this is all new to me.

My car is a 2.4 d5 2008 C70 the engine with the silver cover if that makes a difference.

I'm having problems with the oil level sensor and oil level being to high or low, putting oil in at the level shown about 2/3rds brings on the engine service light.

Have had a new sensor fitted and then had Volvo calibrate and remove some of the oil out which is just below half or the third xx, everything seamed fine.

Then available car topped the level back up to to what they thought was correct level!!! even though being told to leave it alone, and the lights come back on what a surprise.

Its now being re-fault read by Available car and the sensor pulse is not correct so they think the sensors gone faulty but there sending it to Volvo on Monday I think!!!!

So my questions are why can't I top the oil level up to the 2/3rd or the full mark, are these engines a pain in the arse or what.

Please help.

Cheers ian very newbie.

This is a known Volvo issue and the fix they did was to put a sticker under the hood showing the correct fill level which is NEVER to full on the dipstick.
5.5L OF 0-30 fully synthetic for an oil change.NOT 6L.
