Hydraulic Roof Pump

Have a problem with the roof on my 2006 C70 in that it opened fine, but didn't close properly with the boot lid ending up in a vertical position. Have been taking it to my local Volvo dealer for repair, after five hours they have told me that there is no fault with the sensors but that I need a new hydraulic pump at the princely sum of £3,000! Am wondering if they are out of their depth and just don't want to be bothered with it. I have contacted a roof specialist who quoted £1,000 but it is 2 hours drive from me. My question is does anyone know how long it should take to diagnose and replace a pump, would it be possible in a day?
