No speedo :(
 

The speedometer stopped working on full lock about a month ago. Some days it's on, some days it's off. It can go from on to off to on again in a mile on a straightish road. The ABS light and engine fault light have been doing the same for the past two years, and are luckily on at MoT time.

But it's not a chance I can take at MoT time.

I've just replaced both front ABS sensors and the front nearside one was a bit bashed from where it's been hitting something but.... no. Still the same. Except now I've got no speedo even trying to come on. Everything else about the car is fine but it's going to have to go very soon if I can't fix this. Any ideas, anyone?

Your first step would be a scan with a compatible scan tool. Then investigate what you find. (rather than guessing and randomly replacing parts)

Yep first step is to scan for codes. Just make sure you have a tool that can read ABS codes. I'd suspect you may have an issue with a speed sensor somewhere or its in the ABS controller board. Check out midwest ABS and Xemodex for common symptoms of a faulty ABS controller.
