PTC removal

I've been reading on the PCV/breather system. One thing I read to inspect is the PTC on the intake hose. Can someone fill me in on how that comes off the plastic tube for cleaning and inspecting? Twist? Pull? There's not a lot of space for leverage down there and there's several tubes, nipples, I don't want to risk braking any of them. Thanks.

Very tight fit. Easier to just remove the entire hose since there is not much space in the engine compartment. Any particular symptoms leading you to believe that you must remove this part for an inspection?

I agree with getting under the car and removing the air hose it's attached to first. This will prevent breaking it.

Remove the entire hose.

No particular symptoms. The car just hit 140k miles and I just thought I'm playing Russian roulette with the vent system at this point. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. So far no smoke from the dip stick and no excessive unexplained oil leaks. Keep wanting to work on it but it's my daily driver so I can't afford to have it down even 1 day.
