Should i buy a 2002 c70-ht convertible t
I'm considering a 2002 C70-HT convertible with 57k miles. It looks clean but I haven't had it checked out. The convertible top has been replaced. The car smells stale. Noticed that the a/c started out okay but later was blowing warm air. Saw some condensation on a small hose near the coolant reservoir. It seemed to take an unusually long time for the top to go down, the front windows make a thump when completely lowered, and I thought I heard a bit of a crackle in the radio speakers, also noticed that the 3 disc CD cartridge was missing. Drove about 5 miles on the freeway and nothing bad but nothing terribly impressive either. I expected a smoother ride on the city streets. Car pulled a little to the left. Dealer said it could be tire pressure or that the street wasn't level. For you experienced Volvo drivers: knowing what you know now, would you buy it? My major fear about buying a Volvo is the cost of ownership/repair/maintainability. Can anyone point out typical problems that I should expect with this model. What about leaks?
BTW the seller is VEHICLEVILLE in Opa Locka near North Miami, Florida.

I think you've answered your own question. The car is telling you "I hope you like lemons".
Pulling could be what the salesperson said, but it could also be a bent frame, ruined or just worn out suspension, too. Don't listen to a salesman who knows nothing about the car. No knowledge re that model, but thumping windows don't sound right, either.
No a/c in Miami? Can you spell "microwave"? You have no idea what's wrong with the system, from simple low on refrigerant to bad compressor, condensor, etc. Big bucks to fix if anything other than minor. And don't let them spend a few bucks of R139 refrigerant, either, which may solve the problem for a day or two.
New top? Maybe it led its life outdoors in hot sun and salt air. Or maybe the car was vandalized and/or stolen through a knifed-open top. (See missing CD player for why I'm suspicious). Or it rolled over in a crash.
Nobody here will disagree with this statement: Volvos are not cheap to keep.
Ask dealer for Carfax. You may see major smash, rebuilt title, etc. If he won't give one to you, dice "adios, muchacho". Pronto.
