Could be either 2 things sunroof drain clogged and leaking into the car or the rear windows leaking into the car.I would have those checked out first.

Im glad you figured it out.I know here in the U.S. on the older C70's the had a recall on teh rear windows you might want to see if your car falls under the recall.

Default RE: noisy handbrake shoes?????

it's driving me mad 1,

the sound of my hand brake shoes rubbing inside the discs.
it must be them making the noise coz i've had both the front discs and pads changed.

when i was driving along slowly, i lightly started to pull the hand brake and a scary BANG came from the back wheels, and a very loud sqweeeeeeeeel followed the bang.

the handbrake still and as always worked fine.

do i need ALL the back brakes replacing?

any help would be great

The reason that you hear that is because the bang is the shoes shifting in the rotor. It will squeel a little because there is rust and stuff like that in there. The e-brake is not meant to work while driving. That is about normal for that car.If you do the same thing backing up it will make a lighter bang and squeel some as well. The e-brakes shoes will probably never need to be changed in the life time of the car.Not unless the brake is left on and driven for about a week or so.

o.k so the banging is nothing to worry about, but how do i get rid of the metalic sound when i'm driving, "ya know what i mean, the car sounds like a old relic that's got brake pads that are worn right down to the metal, scuffing as the wheels turn"

[sm=youreright.gif] about the dust and rust inside where the shoes are. they've been cleaned out today. rear pads are only 2 month old and are still looking new.

.... BUT I CAN'T GET THE NOISE TO GO AWAY.

could the shoes be adjusted so they don't touch the inside of the drum, or would that cause the Handbrake to be poor?

thanx tech [sm=smiley20.gif]

"p.s i've got a question about adding a 6CD Changer to that cable in my Boot (Trunk) for my next mission"[sm=vader1.gif]

I think the noise you hear is not the shoes rubbing on the inside of the rotor.I think it is the clip that is between the rear pads. That is a spring clip theat looks like a cross. What happens is the clip doesn't always go back onto the pins that hold the pads in.which causes the spring to rub on the outside of the rotor. What you can do is remove the tire and push the spring clip all the way against the pin. Then the annoying noise should be gone.

For the changer pull the radio and se if the wiring is in the radio as well.If so the you ahould be able to just plug in an alpine changer and make 3 connections with wires and you will be good to go.

well i've got my hands on an ALPINE XQE100230 (6CD) changer

it as: only the *ONE cable coming out of the back (round plug with 10 pins)

i do have a cable pluged in the back of my SC-901 head unit, which DOES go into my trunk (left hand side behind the light)
this cable however, only as 8 pins in a round plug

you say................. {plug in an alpine changer and make 3 connections with wires and you will be good to go. }

what *THREE connections do you mean?
do i need to buy a different Alpine changer?

cheers

Some changers had a power wire, ground wire, and accessory wires.I just checked my changer and mine has 8 pins and no wires like yours.Check the back of the readio and see if there are and other spots in teh radio with plugs. There is usually one for the C/D and one for the amp.Sometimes there are others.

Hello

I too have a problem with a wet seatbelt (drivers side only). I have removed and replaced side window and do not have sunroof. Something else I have noticed is that when parked facing uphill the belt does not get wet!?!?! Any ideas on where the water is getting in?

Try looking in the trunk and see if there is any signs of water in the trunk. If so the trunk seal might be bad.Other than that there is still a possibility that the window is still leaking.Sometimes they can be really stubborn to get sealed. One time I worked on a window half of the day just to get it to seal properly.
