Default Xenon Headlights

We're new owners of a CPO'd '06 C70, and have noticed the xenon headlights are lousy. The lights illuminate only 60-70 feet in front of the car. We've been to the dealer twice and have had them adjusted. First through the computer adjusting where it thinks level is, and then again to have the dealer installed washers in the headlight assembly to "trick" the level into raising the lights up higher. Nonetheless the dealer has indicated to us that that is as good as it's going to get.

I'm planning on writing a letter to Volvo to express my disbelief that a manufacturer who markets themselves as safety conscience thinks that headlights allowing a driver less than a second of reaction time at 60 mph is safe.

Has anyone else noticed this problem, and/or have had any luck in getting the lights aligned to better illuminate the road?

The dealer claims that the lights meet the manufacture's specs. The xenon lights in the '06 and beyond C70's are different than the previous generation halogen/HID's. We also own two other vehicles that have xenon, and halogen headlights. There is no comparison between these cars and the Volvo lights. Without question the worst lights I have on a car since halogen headlamps were introduced in the 70's!

I have a very similar problem with my '04 s80's HID's It's a shame because they have potential but the lights are just aimed too low. So on most nights I just drive with my high beams, never been flashed for them because they're about as bright as most people's low beams.

I wonder if brighter bulbs would make any difference, and if you do write a letter please share any response they give you.

Our high beams are terrific, but they're HID's and would certainly annoy oncoming drivers. The xenon's have a definitive line in the lenses that focuses the beam low. I will certainly share any remarks Volvo has.

Yes I have the same problem with my 2007 C70...lights are bright enough, just set way too low.
I was going to get it seen to when the service is done this month...hope I get better results than you guys did.
