01 S40 w/ turbo code P0335 & P0336

Hey everyone, I just thought I would share my recent experience with the crank position sensor codes listed above.

So, I bought a 2001 S40 turbo, and drove it around all day. When I was finally getting ready to head home, the car failed to start. I had to try it 3 times before it would fire up. From then on the check engine light was on. I borrowed my co-workers Matco OBDII scan tool. What I found was the two crank position sensor codes. So, I set about googling common issues with the S40 that might cause that since the car ran great when it fired up and more often than not it fired up. I noticed a pattern of people getting the same code after having recently removed the cylinder head or had the timing belt replaced. So, I sort of guessed that there may be a loose ground wire that completes that particular sensor circuit. Fortunately I was right, when I removed the plastic cover from the valve cover to reveal the coils, I found a little ground wire inside that had worn through the black coating, and was beginning to corrode. I replaced this section of ground wire as far back as I could and added a new eyelet. The code has not returned, it has been about 4 days. Hope this helps anyone who has a similar issue.
