Need some help with 05 S40 6 disc CD player. The player stopped reading disc, get "unreadable error" on all disc. Is there any way to clean or does anyone know how to remove the whole unit so that I can clean.

AutoNaut, Upon reading these instructions more carefully, i noticed the last statement about using the VCT2000 to program the function. Would this be needed if just removing the unit to clean? I have also contacted my local dealer service and was told that i did not need a radio code for this year model after power was lost of which it will be when i pull the unit.

 

I don't think that you need to install any software. The instructions are for upgrading the unit but shows how to remove and install.

Just today, my cd changer started acting up. It seemed to jam in the middle of changing discs. It wouldn't even eject. I thought I was going to have to pull the unit but after driving for a while it started working again.

I tried the link from a couple of years back to the site for removing the 6 disc CD changer and it did not lead to instructions. My CD player says disc error and makes clinking noises for a few seconds after I turn on ignition. It started a day after I disconnected the battery to eliminate check engine light. I would like to pull the CD stack and replace it if possible for a novice? ANY help is appreciated.
