06 S40 Clunking

I am new to Volvo and have just purchased a 2006 S40 with 71000 miles. Each time I start the car and take a new trip I notice a clunk in the front.

This happens:
  • When going forward for the first time after each startup
  • When accelerating past approximately 10-12 mph
  • This only happens only once and then not again for the remainder of that trip
Does anyone have any idea if this is normal or if I should seek a mechanics advice.

Loving the car so far other than that concern\.
Thanks!

clunking

My Volvo several years ago had a clunk in the front....turned out there was a small issue with the anti-lock brakes...adjustment and its fine ever since.

Check the main engine mount on the passenger side of the engine. On my 2005 it started as occasional clunks then progressed to every time you accelerated. Turns out the main engine mount rubber was completely sheared in half. Takes awhile after that for the rubber to rub away until the metal parts starts knocking together.
