06 S40 T5 Hot on one side cold on the other
I have had my S40 for 2 days. I have the dual climate control and both are set to the same temperature, but it is cold on the driver side and HOT on the passenger side. Any one else have this problem?
Hi Sado,
i had the same problem on my 2005 S40 2.4i and all it needed was a software upgrade; it was done in about 15-20 minutes; I understood that it is a pretty common problem;

Yeah its in the TSBs. Just bring in you Volvo in to the dealer and they'll upgrade the software. It's nothing major, the sensors in the cars are just not reading the right thing. I hade the same problem and they fixed in in 15 min.
yes this is a very common problem with the new 2004.5 and newer s40s there are a couple of things that cause this one the s/w has incorrect paramerters or its outdated so a ccm upgrade is needed second for many different reasons the damper motors get out of calibration causing the ccm to incorrectly adjust the damper motors for the set temp, the fix is to recalibrate the ccm. this is a Tech net note it also happens on the other p2 cars
it's been to the dealer three times now. Once to be recalibrated, once for software update and it's on it's third visit now. The interesting thing is, that when the problem sarted we wanted ac on, but it blew hot air out of the passenger side. Now it's cold out and we wanted heat, but it blew AC out of the passenger side. I've tried messing with every internal setting and nothing seems to work.
It's not the motor and it's not a freon problem. I had the exact same thing happen to me in my 2006 T5. I've noticed that the service reps often don't communicate well with the actual technicians that work on your car, SO after two visits (like yourself) I left the car running and insisted that a tech look at it. Within 30 minutes, dealer had done the software update for each of the dampers, I think he called them, and everything works perfectly now. Best of all, no cost to you if the car is within warranty, which I assume it is...
Sado do you run the autoclimate control on that I think has the AC on, at least it does on mine as the indicator light is on then, or do you run the controls in nonauto mode?
