2000 S40 Cruise Control Module location???
Hey everyone, i really need help trying to find the location of the CCM because my cruise control is not working and needs to be replaced. I know it needs to be replaced because i had a diagnostic done on it a few years ago, but the mechanic wanted to charge me around $150 to replace it, so i just said "what the heck with it" and been without cruise control since. Now i want to get a used CCM from a junkyard and install it myself, but i am having a hard time trying to find it even with my Haynes manual, which doesn't have any pictures relating to the removal or installation. Anyone know where it is located exactly?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Just went through the same exercise. Turned out to be the stop awitch set incorrectly. The one in behind the brake. The Ccm is located below the radio. See the string below for my tale plus related details.

I tried looking for it, but no luck. I even removed my radio rack to look for it, but only see the Transmission module and Alarm module below it. I'm scratching my head
lol. Any pictures would be helpful. Thanks!

If you're talking about the "Control unit" #30807288, it costs ~$360 new. Here's where VIDA says to look:

Thank you mf70! The illustration helped me locate it. I had to take out my radio rack again and found it hiding behind the metal bracket on the passenger side. My Haynes manual says it's located on the drivers side mounted to a bracket. Maybe I misread the description? Here's what it reads with my input in red:
"Removal:
6. The control unit is located under the right-hand side of the facia (which facia?) Working in the driver's footwell (they mean passenger's footwell), first remove the screws and detach the carpet trim panel from the base of the right-hand side of the centre console (im thinking this is in relation to the driver in the driver's footwell looking at the center consoles left side) .
7. Detach the connector locking strap from the unit by drilling out the rivet, then unplug the connector from the unit.
8. Undo the two securing screws and lift the control unit from its mounting.
What had me confused was "working in the driver's footwell", which should of said, "working in the passengers footwell" instead.

I bet you have a Haynes manual written in the UK for RHD models (lol, did they mention the centre console?). Curious if you finished the job and you should whether there were any tricks to removing the left side cover of the console.
What I find annoying for these manuals is the simple "remove trim panel" language that doesn't mention snaps/clips/hooks etc. or where you need to push or pull in a specific direction. For example, when I changed my S40's headlight switch, I had to pull out, then down then out to get the bezel off... simple once you know that right?
