Default 2001 Volvo S40 Check Engine Light (Poor Driving)

Hi, I have a 2001 volvo s40 that is running very poorly. Here is the codes below from 2014d vida software. What is the problem likely wrong with my car? I have attached a pdf of all the codes on the car, just incase they have something to do with the problem.

**ECM-44 Misfire, Emission level. Faulty signal. Intermittent fault
**ECM-45 Misfire, Emission level. Faulty signal. Intermittent fault
**ECM-4D Misfiring damaging to the three-way catalytic converter (TWC). Faulty signal. Intermittent fault
**ECM-61 Camshaft reset valve. Faulty signal. Intermittent fault
**ECM-91 Torque reduction. Faulty signal. Intermittent fault

Erase codes, see which ones come back first. Check compression (when plugs are out.) How old are sparkplugs? could be a coil or plug wires for the missfire, Cam timing valve will usually not make car run bad. But that could be a connection, a solenoid or gear problem or the timing belt could be few degrees off.

I have not changed spark plugs since I had the car. So the spark plugs can be really old. I had it for about 6 or 7 months. The pcv is definitely clogged. I did the glove test on the oil cap. I saw a connector on the main wiring harness that seemed corroded that is connected to one of the coils. I also had a problem when I first had the car that whenever I hit the passive gear on the interstate, it wanted to kind of bogged down.

Plugs and PCV valve replacement are no-brainers. I'd do those and reset the codes, and see what happens.

Gen 1 S40s have a coil to two plugs design so seeing two different misfire codes suggest you may have an issue with spark from one of the two coils. Pop off the cover and look at the wire harness to see if you can see any cracked connectors etc. Not uncommon for the wire harness from the firewall to the coil packs to need replacing. While in there look for the date code on the spark plug wires - Anything over 5 years should be replaced. Really cheap since there's only two short wires - the coils go direct to the other plugs.

I'm going to buy my parts here hopefully tommorrow. What is everyone's opinions on using seafoam for the car? Good or bad idea?

opinions on using seafoam for the car?
Products like work really good - they successfully take money from your pocket and put it into the wallet of someone else.

Use your money for things you really need - food, clothing, shelter, retirement account and only the parts for your car that will fix it, no extra fluff. Maybe splurge on some fuzzy dice if that’s your thing - those will actually do more for your car than “seafoam”

I was mainly using the seafoam to clean the injectors. I saw a video on youtube channel "Nates Interactive Auto" and it showed a test cleaning some injectors and got good results.

If I clear the codes on the volvo s40 now, will the car run a little better since all the codes are gone?

Years ago (in the 1980's) clogged injectors were a problem - injector and gasoline manufacturers worked it out.

Empty your wallet if you wish, but you won't notice a difference after a seafoam treatment, other than the balance on your credit card. If you want to use a proven product, Volvo recommended Techron years ago.

Will the car run better with no codes? It depends - if what you did solved a problem that was making the car run worse, then yes.
