2002 volvo s40 power antenna (frozen in ice) will it burn up?

Hi,
Guess the antenna did not go down all the way before I turned the car off so it is sticking about 6 in up. Then cold weather and ice hit now the antenna will not move when I turn the radio on or off. I tried pushing it up and down a little just to see if there was ant free play and nothing froze solid.

Now the weather here is going to be cold for awhile, any ideas if the antenna being stuck like that would burn up the motor or hopefully would just blow a fuse first? I plan not to use the radio until we get a thaw.

Would leaving the rear seat down while driving allow enough heat into the trunk area to thaw it out??? (just a thought)

TIA,

Lucked out, was able to move the antenna to free it up, it still would not go up or down all the way. What i used was key lock de-icer. squirted some on a paper towl then fully extended the antenna and wiped it off.

When retracted the antenna and pushed it in the rest of the way and this time I squirted the de-icer around the tip so it would soak down the shaft. After that the antenna is working fine again... Phew!!!!!

if you drop the rear seat forward, pull the side bolster forward and off to find a retaining screw holding down the trunk liner. That should allow you to fold back the liner to expose the bottom of the power antenna to your warm(er) air. Either that or pay to park you car for a few hours in an underground or heated garage (trip to the big city eh?)
