Default Front strut mounting trick

For those of you who have ever struggled with getting the knuckle reattached to the strut body, here's a cool trick that will make it a whole lot easier than trying to push a prybar into the slot, or than using a big hammer to bludgeon the poor thing into position.

Just remove the clamping bolt all the way, then thread it in from the wrong (threaded) side until the end of the bolt is sticking out into the gap. Then put a stout piece of metal in between the bolt and the other side of the clamp (I used a beefy washer), and tighten the bolt which will easily spread the clamp to allow it to slide onto the strut body easily. Then loosen the bolt until the knuckle is snug, but not yet tight - then align the knuckle where you want it, remove the bolt (and washer), thread it in from the correct side and snug it down to spec.

Hope that helps someone out there someday...
