2012 S40 AC Blower Low Speed
Hello fellow Volvo owners,
After having a recent issue with my AC ( compressor failed 2 times > both times replaced with a used one ) i noticed that the AC blower (fan) is not working "like it used to". And by that, i noticed that the fan speed is not as fast to react when i open the car door (and let the hot air inside the car cabin) while the engine is still running. [sidenote : I am currently in the middle east, and regular outside temps are well over 30*C during the day > opening the car door for 30 seconds can influence the temperature in the cabin very much]
Basically i feel that ac blower it's running at low speed.
I can manually increase the blower speed, or lower the temperature setting, to get the desired wind flow. But i'd rather have the ac system on "auto".
My google searches found that the first generation of S40 ( <2006), this blower speed issue on the S40 would be fixed by changing the AC Blower Resistor
However, even though i found the "equivalent" ac resistor for the 2006+ version , the volvo garage (as well as a local garage) insist that newer volvos have the ac resistor inside the blower assembly > which cost around 500 usd (new) to replace
Is that true, do i really need to change the whole blower assembly ? or can i simply change the ac resistor (which should also control the blower speed)
Thank you for your time / help
