anti skid service required
Does anyone know if I unplug the ABS module if the car will run?
When my message comes on the S40 goes in some sore of limp mode making un drivable. I need to get the thing fixed but my dealer is 60 miles away and I can't afford the tow and the parts. Any help would be great. Thanks , Gary |
Make sure you have a good battery and the charging system is good. The S40 will start giving this warning message when you have low voltage.

The ABS module should have nothing to do with how the car runs.

anti skid service required
When the anti skid message comes on the car starts dying back on running,
goes and stays in like 3rd gear, want shift into 5th or 1st. It all but dies. I don't understand. I will check the charging system however. Thanks ! |
Anti Skid
I have a V40 and a 2002 Passat 4 motion, My Passat anti skid problems caused by the brake light switch. I think the S40/ V40 is drive by wire as is the Passat. Activating the brakes affects the MAP and traction control, making the acceleration sluggish, as if the traction control is activated.
Check the function of the brake light switch, could be simple as that. |
anti skid
I have the same fault with s60.
Anti skid comes on after 5 miles approx. If I am in top gear at the time, nothing happens until I slow. As it drops to third gear it judders. From then on it stays in third. I thought it was a safe mode at first but realised a couple of days ago that it pulls slowly because it is stuck in third. I paid Volvo specialist £180 to have it checked out but he said all faults had been deleted except engine service required. RAC turned it off last week. Anti skid came on as usual and engine warning came on next time i turned the key. Is there any way to disable the anti skid? Car runs great until that comes on. |
Anti skid service
There is no way to turn off or disable anti skid. I finely got help from my local dealer's mechanic Ed, my Volvo had a bad throttle body and it was sending a false code to the anti lock braking system. This code set off
the anti skid warning and puts the car in limp home mode for safety. The engine speed, around 3700 RPM, was another way mine would set the code. I also had the crankshaft position sensor replaced. There are too much working together in the ECM for easy or simple fixes. Good Luck, Gary |
