Iphone...

I have read some good things on the ELM327. Bluetooth for Android and WiFi for Iphones..

I have an Android phone, and use the Torque Pro app and an ELM327 Bluetooth "dongle". Works great, and gives me a HUGE window into what's going on with my vehicles. I set up a custom "virtual dashboard" where I monitor a whole lot of things on long road trips, including vacuum, spark advance, MPG (instant and long-term), throttle position (handy when on cruise control), etc.

I'm no expert on the iPhone side of the issue though. I helped my daughter-in-law set up a similar app on her iPhone. All I recall was that the adapter AND the app were a lot more expensive (my total outlay for the Bluetooth dongle and Torque Pro app was just over $20, IIRC). I'd suggest using amazon's review on candidate devices to get an idea what works best. There's usually a boatload of feedback on each of the options - that's how I ended up choosing my dongle (some of them are knockoffs that may or may not work well).

I watched some youtube video and seems to work fine on Iphones. However the app costs around $10.00

Yep, that's what I paid for mine, too. The OBD "dongle" adds another $10 (and change)…
