CD Stuck
So i burned a new CD the other day to listen to in my 05 S40. It has 16 songs, and after playing the first 14 it went to song #15. But, it started taking a while to play so i skipped it. Figureing there was a scratch on the CD, and went to number 16, same deal, wouldnt play. I assumed that the end of my CD was just not going to play for some reason, so i ejeced it. The only problem is, it never ejected. Now my CD is stuck in there and everytime i turn the stereo on (radio or CD) it is making sounds like it is trying to eject it, but cant. And when i press the CD button the stereo screen says "Ejecting CD," but of course it isnt actually ejecting.
I took it to the local dealer and after explaining this to them, without even looking at it, they told me i needed to replace it with a new one for a couple hundred bucks. So you can see why i would rather fix this myself. Now, has anyone ever experienced this before or now how i can fix it?
Much appriciated.

I also have a 2005 S40 where the CD would not eject. The CD player does not appear to handle dirty or scratched media very well. In my case I got a CD unreadable message which I often get with those I get from the library. Nine times out of ten I can wash the CD media and it will work correctly. However, last night upon the unreadable message I could not get the CD to eject from the player. When I pressed the eject button the display would say ejecting for about 30 seconds but there was never any of the mechanical "ejecting" noise. I tried many different sequences such as turning on and off, switching to radio, turning the car on and off, but no luck. I finally was able to get the CD to eject when I pressed the eject button while listening to the radio. Note to press my luck I put the faulty CD back in and got the same problem. I had to switch back and forth from CD to radio a few times before it would once again eject while listening to the radio.
When the car was new this same problem happened and my wife immediately took it to the dealer. They went ahead and put a new player in even though that action was probably not needed. I certainly would not pay for a new player now that the car is out of warranty.

Well the thing is, my CD player used to play scratched CDs ok, i would just have to skip past the scratches and it would play again. No Problems there. This was a brand new CD, but it was burned. I'm thinking maybe the burn went bad at the end and thats hwy those songs didnt play, but i still dont know why it wont eject.
I'll try doing what you did, and see if that works.
It's rediculous that you have to pay that much to get a new CD player. I could buy one of those after market ipod adapters for volvos and still pay less than what the dealer wants.
