Check engine light & the radio

I just picked up a 2000 s40 with 45000 miles.</P>

Question. I was driving it back home about 120 miles. I had went 80 miles and the check engine light came on and I noticed that the heat was not very hot at all I had it set on 80 and it was about 60 in the car. Outside temp 10 <IMG src=smileys/smiley7.gif border="0">I stoped checked under hood, to see if I could see any out of the norm. Nothing I did check the battery cables and the pos cable was loose. I pulled it off cleaned it a little and put it back on. I got back in the car and the radio came up with the words code???? what the hell does that mean!!! So I guess I will be taking my new used car into the service shop. I hope this is not a trend. Any ideas???</P>

Thanks Sam

yes...look in your booklet. There should be a card that has a 4 digit code. just type that in and it should work.

do not enter an incorrect code more than 3 times or the radio will shut itself off for i think 3 hrs. the car must still be on for the timer to work though. Every time you disconnect the battery this will happen to you.

RE: Check engine light & the radio

I called the local dealer and faxed my registration and return phone #. Within 2 hours he called and gave me my code.

But......since then my radio kept shutting down and I had to enter code frequently which is a pain.......then things got worse.
I have no radio at all!!!!! The security signal blinksing once the car is off for a while, but it seems once I turn the key to start the car it shuts the radio down. Any suggestions???? Thanks.

Tryy wiggling the ignition switch assy. and see what happens.Sometimes the electrical part of the ignition switch geas bad and causes things like that to happen.
