Default po301 and po304 back after a year on 2002 s40

hi
have a 2002 s40 with 185,000 kms
I changed the colis exactly last april after engine light came on and had codes of po301 and po304

today engine light came on and put the obd and same codes came on po301 and po304
im guessing coils again
I heard coils should last 100,000
these colis from Volvo has only been 20,000

right now cleared the code and drove around for 10 minutes or so and engine light has not come back,,will monitor
thoughts anyone
thanks

It could also be the spark plug wires and get the same codes. Did you replace the wires with the coils last time? The spark can jump to the head under the plastic piece over the spark plug and you will never hear or see it.

But yes, the coils can fail less than 100k miles. I've had them fail at less than 50k. They shouldn't, but nothing is guaranteed.

If it was still misfiring then yes. If it's not misfiring then keep driving it. Can you feel it misfire when accelerating?
