Default Crankcase ventilation needs to be replaced!

took my car to the dealer, and they pinpointed several things that need to be checked.

1- the crankcase ventilation thing needs to be changed, i have no idea what this is!

2- brake pads need to be replaced, any brand you guys suggest!? also i want the thing that covers them to be red, is it easy to paint them? my car is a red one

3- the Bosch spark plugs installed are not suitable for my car, according to the mechanic guy, it will reduce fuel efficiency!!

4- is it normal for the engine to have a slight vibration? i could feel it while sitting in the car

many thanks guys

Is the engine making a horrid noise at idle? It is a sign that the crank case vent needs replacing. This is a known issue on these cars and Volvo extended the warranty for this item.

Brake pads: Volvo pads are a no-brainer. I also recommend Hawk HPS for longer life and less dust.

Spark plugs: Go with the Volvo plugs. They are excellent and correct.

My car has a slight vibration but yours could be due to the plugs and/or the crank case vent.

yep, there is a horrid noise!

just got back from the service shop, they told me it would cost around $400, and they can't do it, so i called the dealer and they also said it would cost $400.

they mechanical guy told me he could remove the sound since it's so annoying, so he pulled a hose or something and the sound stopped, but he said i should change it.

concerning the spark plugs, i found Volvo ones but not at the dealer for $50, but it said excl turbo, and mine is turbo, would that make a diff?! at the dealer they cost $90!

I believe the turbo plugs have a longer thread.

I looked these up at MySwedishParts.com

The oil filter housing part number is 30788494 (~ $95 for the part).
Spark plugs for the T5 (turbo) part number should be 30751806 (~ $50 for the set)

the T5 on the C30 is the same on my 2004.5 S40?

another thing, i went to replace the air filter, should i get the original volvo one or the K&N?
if i got the K&N, will it reduce fuel economy?!
