Question Driver's seat keeps re-setting itself

Hi all,
I have a S40 2.0 D SE Lux 2008.
I have the driver's seat on a memory setting.
Usually, when I turn off the ignition the seats starts moving and resets itself to another memory setting.
But it doesn't do it every time - about 50/50.
Anyone know why, and how to cure it?
Cheers, John

Does your car have the Keyless Vehicle Module? Your remote should have six buttons on it if so. Cars with that feature will change the memory setting based on which user is getting in the car.

Also, has the car always done this, or is it something recent?

Thanks for the reply.

No, mine is not keyless - the remote just has the usual lock/unlock/boot/lights buttons.

It has been acting this way on and off for 2 years, but at first it was only every few weeks, so I thought I'd accidentally hit the seat button when getting out of the car.

Now it's doing it most times (but not all), and it's definitely not me!

And, of course, when I want to demonstrate it to a mechanic, it won't do it.

The next step would be to get a software download/upgrade to the driver's door module. It sounds like an issue with the program. Any chance the car is still under warranty?

No, out of warranty (2008 model).
What's the driver's door got to do with it ?

According to Volvo's repair section, the next step for cars without KVM is to update the software in the DDM and PDM. A malfunction in the memory setting can have something do to with those door modules, since they, and the Power Seat Module all work together.

Those acronyms all go over my head, but what I do know is that fixing them is usually very expensive !
I may well leave things as they are.

Sorry!

KVM - Keyless Vehicle Module
DDM - Driver's Door Module
PDM - Passenger Door Module
