Electrical Problem, Not The Battery

Well my Daughter calls us Sunday. Car won't start. Just shut it off 4 hours ago. Wipers go crazy when you try to start it. Head lights and interior lights work fine. It won't jump start. Of course no dealer is open, and she is far from our "home" dealer. Oh well. It's under warranty, 06 AWD bought in Jan., 08. Called roadside assistance. Car was towed to their yard, then towed to nearest dealer Monday morning. Receipt, not in my hands now read. Cleared 2 codes, recharged battery, all set. It is all good now. Anyone have an idea what the hell went on? Tom

Low voltage can play hell on those cars, but I've seen some LIN Bus issues caused by bad sirens on the P3 and P1 cars.Usually indicated by issues with the wipers. There are other things to consider of course, and without seeing the fault code readout I wouldn't be able to say.

This is what happened. The 2 codes they listed were the main CEM, and the SRS system. They reset them, charged the battery and sent her on her way. My dealer said this was B.S., plain and simple. Something caused the battery to drop in voltage, they didn't bother to find out what is was. They also feel it will happen again, at any time. ****! Now I have to wait till next time. They were also upset the dealer didn't replace the battery. Tom
