engine runs smooth but no power
Our2000 - S40 T4 runs as smooth as ever but we have no power and very poor acceleration.
We have had it to 2 dealers - one says it is a gearbox program error and the other says it is a turbo issue where the turbo hose is being sucked flat under vacuum pressure. (Sounds convincing) I have had a look at the hoses and can’t see any problem, but I wouldn't know if I am looking at the correct hose.
Has anyone had a similar issue?

RE: engine runs smooth but no power
Hi,
With the shifter in "P", does the RPM climb smoothly up to 6,000 RPM or so as you step on the gas pedal? If it does, the problem is probably on the transmission side. If it does not, there may be too much back pressure due to a blockage in the exhaust system, problem in the turbocharger, etc... Feel the hoses that connect to the turbocharger to see if thereare weak/soft sections. Turbocharger is the unit that is connected after the exhaust manifold.
I am not privy to the S40s, so refer to the owner's manual for component locations.
I hope other S40 owners jump in with better solutions.
