Grease
I have a problem that is not particular to a Volvo, but I still think it applies when operating a Volvo s40 at this time of year.
My radio antenna goes into a out of a well depending on whether the radio is turned on or not. Turn the radio on and it extends out of the well to its maximum length; turn it off and the reverse happens. Except, now it does not. The antenna only partially extends and partially goes back into the well now. I think it is something as easy as the fact that in New England the outside temperature has been sub-freezing for several weeks, followed by a short warming period. The antenna gets stuck and the deployment and retraction are hampered. The question is how to fix? I think simply adding some lubricating grease would do the trick. If this is so then is the some special product or compound that works. I would imagine something like silicon grease could do it. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance. Respectfully, Newport_j |
I try to clean my antenna every month in the winter and in the warmer months when I change my oil. I get a little bit of 3in1 , put the antenna up, dab a little in each of the sections, up down up down, wipe and repeat a few times. I also did this with my 740.
