!!!HELP!!! S40 1.8 white smoke & stuttering engine.

HI ALL,

Can someone please help me, here is a breakdown of the problems i am having with my S40,

1. On ignition the car is now sounding like a Go Kart, by this i mean the engine is stuttering slightly

2. there is distinctive white smoke being dispelled from the exhaust, this comes with a smell of either petrol, or oil, cant quiet put my nose on it.

3. when driving away initially, i can put my foot down, and the car won't budge anywhere fast, no power to the engine kind of.

There has been no engine warning lights displayed as of yet.

The car has been to the garage in the past 2 weeks, the constant speed control valve was dirty, so the mechanic took it off and cleaned it, the placed the same one back onto my car.

please, please, please can some one help,

Thank you

Mark

Re:white smoke and no power

I do believe the S40 1.8 comes with an intercooled turbo.
I would start to point fingers at "the turbo" ,sounds like classic turbo propeller shaft bearing to me,bearing locks up shaft stops spinning (loss of power) oil feed to the turbo continues to a frozen bearin and a propeller shaft not turning so oil runs right through bearing into the exhuast (white smoke) remove front intake hose from turbo and inspect propeller shaft. should be free spinning and no play in bearing

Good luck
