Issues after FUEL Pressure Regulator Replacement
I have a 2001 S40 with 72kmiles. I had the issue of many cranks to start the car. Saw I had a hole in the s shaped hose from the FPR. I replaced the hose and still had issues every time I started the car. I replaced the FPR Sunday and the car ran great. Woke up Monday and the car started but died right a way. I was finally able to start it and keep it running with holding the RPMs at 1100 and replacing it in gear and moved it backwards a little and placed it in park. Car kept running. Did not have anymore issues the rest of the day. Went out this morning and it was the same as yesterday morning with the stalling. I had bought another FPR a couple weeks ago and had the same issues in the morning. When I re installed the old FPR there was no change to the original reason I changed it out. Is there something I am missing when changing the FPR out. Vacuum issue? Vapor Lock?

Did you remove the battery cables when doing the work? The car may still have the old fuel trims and you need to remove the battery cables to reset the tables. Rumor says to remove both + and - and tape them together for a few minutes. Just a guess. It's free so can't hurt.
When my 2001 did the long crank I first replaced the Idle Air Control motor but that didn't fix it. I replaced the FPR next and all was well. I believe I disconnected the - battery cable.
