S40 Headlight Upgrade

S40 Headlight Upgrade
I have a 2010 S40 2.4i. I have realized that on back roads my lights are not very bright and force me to drive with my brights on most of the time. I have driven these roads before in my Passat with factory HID's and have had no problem with visibility.
What lights are out there that people would recommend for my Volvo?
Thanks,
Matt

Your light's are just fine. The OEM halogens are pretty unimpressive to say the least.
Best thing to do is install HID's. John at SharpHID has worked with a lot of volvo guys.

There was a mod that involved retrofitting a higher output, high beam bulb into the low beam housing. It works fairly well. Fairly brighter then a Sylvania SilverStar bulb. I had the H9's in my car for about a year and a half with no issues.
EDIT:
Here's the link on how to convert the H9 bulb to fit the low beam's.

Awesome!! I did a similar mod on my 2000 Contour that had the same issue as my S40. The problem I believe on the Volvo is compounded by the fact that the high beams are so bright that when you switch to low beams your eyes are in shock trying to adjust. I am definately doing this mod. If the results are anywhere near what it did on my Contour, it was a very noticable differance.

I went ahead and purchased a headlight upgrade from SharpHID.com. I ordered a 55watt H11 8000k HID kit for my low beams. I'll upload pictures once i get the kit installed. SharpHID was great to work with but shipping seems to be rather slow. I placed the order on 12/30 and they still havn't shipped yet. Depending on how the lights look I would like to do the same to my fog lights. Thank you Mad Matt for the lead. I am looking forward to better visability (and a cooler look). Pictures soon to follow.
