Looking to purchas 02 S40

Hi, I'm looking to purchase an 02 S40 with 47,000 miles. I've heard good and bad things about volvos but I don't have much knowledge about them. I was just curious if i could get some input on what are the most prevelen issues with these cars. Thanks in advance. I appreciate all the help. They are also asking $15,900 for it. Is that about right, or to high? Thank you!

I think the 02 and the 01 are the same, Phase II model. I have had the following issues.

Upper sway bar bushings
Motor mounts
Drive shafts
Eats spark plugs for breakfast
Distributor coils
Brakes are very soft.

You might want to check these items out.
The Bushings are covered under warrenty if you still have one.

Other than that I love the car. I wish I could get the axels fixed.

i HAVE AN 02. 15900 SOUNDS A LITTLE EXPENSIVE?? DOES IT HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY? mY 02 S40 HAS HAD MINIMUM PROBLEMS:

SPARK PLUGS AS STATED ABOVE(STAY WITH OEM SPARK PLUGS)
HEAD LIGHT BULBS
COILS
THERMOSTAT AND SENSOR

MY FUEL GAUGE DOESNT SEEM CALIBRATED CORRECTLY BUT I NEVER HAD IT CHECKED OUT.

I HAVE 95000 MILES ON MINE AND STILL RUNS GREAT...

Price seems high. I just bought an '01 with 49,000 miles for $7,500. Keep looking - you'll find a deal.

I have an 01 and have had nothing but problems. I would not recommend this car to anyone unless you have an extra $300 to $500 a month to have the car fixed.
