Marking on VVT pulley
 

Hi,
I am about to install a new VVT pulley, however there are no marking on the new pulley.

I found a picture published by Houdini where the marking is made by a pen.

However the marking on my old pulley is by the little steelrod slightly to the left
of the marking in the picture, this marking is factorymade.

So my question is, in theory has it any significance where I put the marking?

The new pulleys do not have markings because there is no need to line anything up with them. When you put it on leave it loose, then install the intake pulley (also left loose), tensioner, idler and the new belt. Tension the belt carefully and then slowly tighten up the VVT pulley. The goal is to have the VVT and intake pulley positioned nuetral to the camshafts.

As long as you have the cams locked from behind and the crankshaft positioned properly you should be good.

Ok, thanks for quick reply!
Replaced it plus the solenoid today, started it up, but still have that annoying rattling sound, need to do some more research, someone mentioend it could be faulty valves or injectors...:(
