This thread seems to have reached its end. Unfortunatly fiey24, you have 2 choices. You can sell your Volvo and try to minimize your loss, or you can pay up and have your car fixed. The first choice seems less risky as you know you will lose some money, but then be rid of your problematic car.
The second choice, fixing it, is a gamble. Everything except the transmission is a pretty simple fix. I could do it over a weekend easily, and for only a few hundred in parts. Your transmission is the wildcard here, as a new solenoid may or may not fix it.
You might have a poor opinion of Volvo's after all of this. But they really are great, dependable cars. But to keep them that way you will have to put some money into them every 100k or so.
