new s40 owner, a little put out w/volvo
My first post, just bought a 2002 s40, 28k miles. Did all my research, talked with previous owner got a great car at a great price. The problem is I went to the Volvo Dealership and made inquiries about repair manuals and schematics because I like doing my maintenance myself and they treated me like I was asking for thecodes to launch a nuclear strike. The attitude I got was people don't ask, they just pay. (Thankfully there are 2 great Volvo shops in my area not associated with Volvo.)
Anyway, they told me that no service manuals are for sale for the newer cars, just info on-line that is charged to you by the chapter. Haynesdoes not have an S40repair manuals for anything newer than 1999.
Can anyone tell me if they have had any luck findingmanuals for 2000 and up S40's? Thanks in advance.

|

I just got a Volvo myself and my advice is to check ebay. I'm not sure how authentic they are but a quick search just now brought up a bunch of hits.

i had heard from a friend that volvo now uses tech info and repair info from a cd. i have seen this cd on ebay from a volvo repair technician. also, there is a volvo bookstore that should sell the manuals that you want, but they are expensive. haynes or chiltons should probably come out with a manual soon, but until then, either ebay or the volvo bookstore wis your best bet.
