odd transmission problem...help please
 

okay this is the story..
i bought a 2001 s40 1.9T ... nice car dont get me wrong.
but its been nothing but problems in the year i have had it..
i got it with 37k and now it has 57k miles.

my newest problem i THINK is with the trans.
the dealership told me it was the tires... (the tread was perfect though)
so i replaced the tires..
solved nothing.. (so i asked for them back and my money back, and their response was..."you would of needed tires sooner or later" jerks)

so what happens is...
i accelerate and when i hit about 40-50 the car shakes... only when i accelerate though... not coasting or in neutral...
i had a transflush... didnt do anything...
the dealership (which im never going back to) says that they have eliminated everything it could of been (at my expense) except the transmission...

whats goin on?

Could be a lot of things. Tires, bent rim, steering/suspension....

One thing it is not is the trans....
FWD, so no drive shaft bearing.

I would also have your engine mounts checked first since those are common to break before 60K.

Define 'shakes'.

Is it a random vibration, or rythmic?

Is it a one-time stumble, power loss?

Off the cuff, may be CV joints?

when i say "shakes"...

when i hit about 40-50mph (it doesnt matter what gear its it, its determined mostly by speed)

it feels as though my car is wobbling from side to side.

but once i get above say 55mph the car gradually smooths out.

if anyone here live in PA and can recomend a good shop near the philadelphia area, that would be helpful.
cause there is no way that im gonna let the dealership that sold me my car touch my car again.

i had the tires replaced. and i had a second opinion on it from a second shop and they also have no idea whats up with it, they think it might of been in an accient, the hood isnt lined up properly.

hmmm...

help?

2 Things I would look at!!!

1.Look at the Axles. The inner joints are starting to go bad on these cars.
Most places can't rebuild either and new axlesare almost $400.00 a piece I believe.
If you can get the car on a lift or jack stands safely then feel the inner joint and rock the tire foward and back and see if you can feel play in the inner joint.

2. I have see 2 cars where the transmission part breaks where the drivers side axle enters the transmission. The entire axle will slop around inside the transmission.
