Possible head gasket
 

I have had car in for diagnosis at a few placesm most seem to come to same conclusion and that is to do timing belt and seals.

Since this was done and done correctly 35,000 miles ago I have decided that this is not the problem I am never down any oil, car does/did leak a little in driveway but I think it is from around the 4th cylinder 4321 or the one on the farthest left in photo. I did give the bolt a slight tighten to see if it solves the issue

You may be referring to cover gasket and Cam seals? Head gasket tightening would be impossible without taking upper head off. I'm finding out the hard way.

Yeah you are right! I am pretty sure I do not need cam seals either as when the timing belt was done, they were as well and and both gears are dry, very little oil at all despite pic it looks like it is wet with oi l(but is not) but if you look up you will see it is dry

I wish mine only leaked that much.

Something I found surprising was the lack of RTV or gasket between the cam cover and head from the factory. Could be it was so thin as to not be noticeable but the cam cover popped off fairly easily. So Mr. shade tree mechanic here put the cam cover back on with no sealant. Mine leaks more today than it should. Way more than yours in that photo. I'm using RTV next time I think.

Thanks Hudini, I saw a Robert DIY video in which he states that Volvo does not even have a valve cover gasket, he called it white block.

he said if you do see a little oil. wipe it up and go about your way.


BTW Hudini do you know anything on why all dash lights flash on and off?

No, just guesses really. It could be related to your switch issue. Like when you first turn the key to position I and all the lights come on. Maybe it's losing connection at times.
