Default Radiator Fan Problem

i have a 1999 S40 1.8se gdi ,developed a radiator fan problem

i recently had my ambient temperature sensor replaced, was workin fine for a few days but 2day as i was just about to set out for a long haul journey, i noticed the ambient temperature rising which did not seem possible becos it was freezin outside, so i pulled over and checked the sensor but it was in the correct position, however the wire was out of place so i put that back in place. i carried on driving a few miles but the temp continued to rise so i pulled over and checked it again,,

it is at this point i noticed the radiator fan was not workin and the radiator was cold,, i touched the hose leading into the radiator and it was quite hot but the hose leadin out the radiator was cold..

i checked the radiator fan fuse and it is fine, but the fan does not come on, left the car running for about 45 mins and wathced 2 see if the fan comes on but it didnt...

wondering if anyone can help....

Sounds like a bad thermostat. If one side is hot and the other side cold the thermostat isn't opening.

could that havee been caused by the wires being pulled by the mechanic to replace the ambient temperature sensor?

No but if they changed the sensor on the engine they should have changed the thermostat as well.
