S40 Disposal

S40 Disposal
My 2003 S40 has met it's end at about 187,000 miles. The timing belt broke. The shop I took it to said the cheapest route would be to drop another engine in it for $3600 for a 120K engine w/ 6mo warranty. That's probably what it was worth anyway and it was about due for tires and rear brakes.
What's the best way to dispose of it? I figure if I sell it to the scrap yard I'd get maybe $500. Or would it be better to try to sell it for parts or part it out? Any opinions or other suggestions?

What a shame. If you have a place to store it, then parting it out yourself will reap you more money. You could sell the car as is or to the scrap yard.
If you want to sell as is or part out, look up some of the other S40 specific sites like 30Forty50 C30 S40 V50 Volvo Parts And Performance. Those guys are always looking for parts and are mostly your cars generation.

You can sell me the head. Do not remove the cam pulleys though. I need an unmolested exhaust and intake cam. A backup head would be nice too.
I'm in the process of rebuilding my head after the timing belt tensioner slipped. 8 bent exhaust valves. It's not that difficult to install new valves.
