Default S40 fuel pressure

My 2005 s40 t5 manual throws code P0089 and the scanner shows about 310kPa on the rail. The car runs fine. I changed the pressure sensor but the FRP seems the same and I got another pending P0089. Seems more inclined to code at low temperature, so I'm suspecting the MAP sensor now. Where is it? Also, if I need to replace the fuel pump do I need to cut the exhaust pipe and drop the fuel tank like Haynes says? That sounds terrible!
Any advice would be appreciated.

Cool Update

Since there have been no replies to my post at all, I will provide an update in the hope it will benefit someone. The MAP sensor is also known as the Turbo Boost sensor and is located on the right hand (passenger's) side of the intercooler. Pop off the small plastic fog light panel and you will be looking at it. I replaced this sensor and have not seen a CEL since. It has been a week so I am "cautiously optimistic", as they say. I really don't want to replace that fuel pump.

I'm curious as to why you suspected the MAP sensor? I would still be scratching my head over the P0089 code.

Angry P0089

Some of the posts I have read describe P0089 as a bad code because it is affected by many things. The MAP (turbo boost sensor) provides input pressure and temperature data to the ECM which eventually determines the duty cycle of the fuel pump, and thus the fuel rail pressure. Or so I understand. However, it is all for naught since P0089 came back. I am now replacing the fuel pump module in the tank. It is a very nasty job when you don't have a hoist. I have the s40 up on axle stands but the room to work underneath is cramped and I'm not enjoying it much. I'll post the result when I get it back together.

Update on the P0089 code. The replacement of the fuel pump module was not my favourite job. It would not be bad if you had a hoist. However, it has now been about 10 days and many highway and city kms. with no sign of a CEL or code, so I think it is fixed. I have not yet done a post-mortem on the old pump, so can't tell you what went wrong. The new one is an OEM Bosch module (pump, filter, and fuel guage sender) from Rock Auto. The price was about $250 Can and their delivery speed is amazing-- about 4 days to Alberta! Cheers!
